About Us

A Little About Us

Here, at the 208 Weeks Project, we are a group based in the Midwest (but spreading nationwide). We are parents, students, neighbors and friends (and probably some dogs - especially Golden Retrievers). We are concerned about the increase in hate and vitriol aimed at marginalized people, the destruction of our planet and the increase in economic inequality.

We are trying to counteract these trends by injecting a little happiness, kindness and inclusion into our daily lives.

Motivation

We are worried about the United States and how political polarization seems to be spreading. We developed the 208 Weeks Project as a way for us to move forward in a positive way. All of us can make a difference in the world. We wanted a way we could, mindfully, make a difference in the world and look forward to the future.

Goals

Our goal is to spread kindness, generosity, empathy, and inclusion across the nation by making at least one person’s life a little better each week. If all of us work together, that’s spreading a lot of joy and hope. In addition, there are a lot of good people in the world who have the power, strength and courage to stand up for what is right. We would like to encourage people who are “doing the right thing” with thank you cards and notes of appreciation. Positive reinforcement!
